Middle School R.E.C. ProgramWelcome to the dysart Unified School District Recreation Education and Community Leadership (REC) program. REC, is an acronym that touches on each of the critical areas that make-up a positive school experience! We are very excited at the opportunity to serve you and your students for the upcoming school year. From 6AM until the start of school, then again from the end of the regular school day until 6PM, your student will have access to the campus REC Center that includes a variety of recreational, educational, and enrichment opportunities! Through this program, students 5th thru 8th grade will engage in a variety of activities specifically designed to not only promote student growth in preparation for high school, but to also promote engagement in school events, expose them to team building and leadership opportunities, and give them a safe, fun environment to finish out their day at school. The REC program is NOT a daycare program, and for those familiar with the before and after school programs at the elementary sites, this is not Den Club. Students in REC will have a safe place to “hangout” and develop cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills with their friends, classmates, and school staff. From open gym, to study hall, to gaming, to campus leadership projects, REC will enhance the middle school experience for ALL students.Child Care Program -

Next Level Mindset ClassesPhysical EnrichmentThis is the first year for the Next Level Mindset Course. All athletes, whether beginning or experienced, deal with the pressures to perform, grow, and compete. What gets athletes to the next level is not only their physical abilities, but the mindset to endure and thrive in all areas of their sport and life. Our objective is to use role play, practice, discuss, and plan the following areas to increase mindset performance: Practice: Play out situational challenges to invoke stress, breathing techniques, visualization, and self-talk. Reflection: Discussion of Challenges, Sharing/Relating with other athletes (Round Table), “What would you change?” Implementation: Athletes will apply skills learned in the situational challenges as the course evolves, development of plans to reset, breath, and focus in play/competition, create SMART Goals for the upcoming season(s). This course will educate your athlete(s) on how to use their mindset to get them to the next level. Progressing and using the skills above will help each athlete to “control their controllables” and be more confident in performance, leading to fewer and fewer excuses.Summer 2026
